So.. I forgot to post a Friday Flash.. again. Ok don’t lynch me I was side-tracked and busy! Ahem yes, anyway. Following on from that, I thought I’d get this week started off properly – with Monday Masterpiece!

Preface
Alabaster feathers scattered about, covered in ash . Each drop of blood adorned the jagged tip of broken spines, like a small crown. A quiet sigh escaped cracked and bloodied lips, as heavy eye-lids slowly struggled open to bring light to those cobalt eyes. Matted mahogany hair clung to his sweat drenched brow and his bruised hands pulled his knees tighter to his chest. Ragged breathing gave way to sobs of despair as the chaos seeped into his consciousness.
He was fallen.

I felt the cold, polluted air slowly fill my lungs as I tried to steady my breath. The thoughts were racing through my mind, there was so much to do. I couldn’t just sit here. My bottom lip wobbled defiantly as I saw the blood stained feathers scattered about me. The shattered remains of my wings. Gulping down air I forced myself to stand and think straight. I needed somewhere to call home.
The concept of home sent another tear streaming down my wet, flushed cheek. I knew no place on this planet could ever compare to home. I wiped my eyes on the back of my hand, turned from the mess and took the first step of my new path. I was going to make the most of this. I had fallen for a reason….
